We moved to Maplewood this summer from Pennington, NJ (before that we were in New Orleans, a city we all still miss). George commutes 3-4 days a week to work outside of Princeton, and Jenny commutes into NYC daily. We need someone to pick up our children from school and stay with them until one of us returns, usually by 5:15/30. May involve some travel to kids' activities (although they are not overly scheduled at all). We have a very friendly German Shepherd and two guinea pigs.
I work at Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick and Newark, and my wife works in NYC (in Finance). We have a son, Henry (10) entering 5th grade and a daughter, Molly (6) entering 1st grade. We moved to South Orange (not far from Seton Hall) from NYC a little over 5 years ago and love the area. Henry plays baseball, plays piano, does cub scouts, and loves photography and YouTube (unfortunately). He and I love watching movies together with popcorn and soda. Molly has taken Hip-Hop classes at Class Act, played softball one season, and is a Daisy girl scout. She is simultaneously goofy, intense/stubborn, and loving at the same time, and likes playing card games like Rat-a-tat Cat.
We are a friendly and communicative family, new to town, and hoping to connect with a sitter who can help the kids feel safe and happy in their transition to new schools. We have had great relationships with our sitters in Brooklyn had one for two school years and two others for a year each - who we are still in touch with. The kids are into sports and games and music and books and are enthusiastic about lots of activities most especially playing with their new friends on the block. They love play dates and love playing with/connecting with sitters. They get along well together and and with other kids. We have a cat, and at this point a pretty empty house that we?ll be furnishing / fixing up over the next year.
Hi! I live in South Orange and am looking for a driving afternoon sitter on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-7:30pm to help with my son (8 yrs) and daughter (10 yrs). This is a long-term position beginning September 9th. Responsibilities include picking up the kids from aftercare at the YMCA in Maplewood (will provide car), taking them to activities, helping with homework, reheating dinner, and light housekeeping (unloading/loading dishwasher and helping keep play areas tidy). Please reach out if you are interested. Thanks!
In search of a sitter for my sweet, independent daughters, ages 5 and 9. We are looking for sitter(s) available weekdays between 7 and 9 am, and 2:45 until 5:30 pm. We are willing to work with multiple sitters so if your schedule only allows for certain days/times, please still reach out. Responsibilities would include helping them get ready in the morning, fixing breakfast, meeting them at school/bus stop (both are on our corner,) fixing snacks, doing homework, and hanging out with them until someone gets home. We are located very close to Seton Hall, and both girls are a lot of fun. Let us know if you are interested!
Hi! We have two amazing children, Noah, 8, a 3rd grader who loves baseball, basketball, soccer, Pokemon, Legos and reading. He's super fun and loves to play! Miriam 12, is about to start 7th grade. She's really into music, Broadway musicals, martial arts, and reading, especially fantasy. She sometimes needs homework help but is otherwise super independent. She would love to connect with a kind young person. We like being outside, playing sports, going for walks, and travel. We have lived in Maplewood for almost 13 years and love and embrace the diversity here, which reflects the values we want to develop in our children: love, tolerance, kindness and thoughtfulness.
